another glorious garden island

Garinish Island GlengarriffI went to see the kind of a “sister-island” in Southern Germany:
Mainau. The exotic old trees – including huge palms, some flowering
osmanthus, the rose garden and many other details strongly reminded me
of Garinish. Even the original family wasn’t purely local/German: 1932 Count Lennart Bernadotte inherited the overgrown isle with traces of celtic inhabitants from his father, the Swedish King Gustav V. A decade ago they had 2 mill. visitors p/y!!!! Why shouldn´t Garinish and Mainau start a European garden partnership to exchange expertise, to market each other and to promote common ideals?
